Anodizing process: 

The surface treatment of aluminium implies all the technical processes used in production in order to increase the protection of anti-corrosiveness, mechanical strength or decorations.

Two types of objectives for protection of the surface treatment of aluminium are:

Improving functional properties:

a) corrosion protection,
b) protection against wear.

The improvement of decorative properties:

a) obtain a high gloss,
b) the achievement of certain colours.

Company GAT is in possession of a fully automated line for anodic oxidation process with a device for purification of waste water. 

Thanks to the Munk company inverter device which converts AC power to DC power, we are able to anodised almost all aluminium alloy. During the anodizing process 2/3 of the oxide layer penetrate the material until 1/3 remains on the surface of the material. We are very proud, because it is a technically modern and environmentally conscious project. This automated process ensures maximum safety, reliability and quality of the desired surface.

The thickness of the oxide layer depends on our customers' wishes, ranging between 5-35 microns.

Surface coating of aluminium pieces max can be made on the line. Dimensions 1400x800x550 mm. Constant monitoring of the physical and chemical parameters in our own laboratory, and with a spectrophotometer, fluid flow meter, pH meter has provided a continuous process and quality.

E0 without surface (mechanical or chemical) pretreatment - All scratches, traces in milling or turning, traces of drawing materials remain visible after anodizing.
E1 sanded surface - Evenly sanded surface. Removes all scratches and traces of machining.
E3 polished surface - Achieves a high-gloss surface. Polishes surfaces using polishing rings.
E5 sanded and polished surfaces - Achieves a high-gloss surface. Removes all scratches, traces of milling or turning, and traces of drawing materials.
E6 chemical pretreatment - Achieves a matt surface. Removes all scratches and traces of machining.
E7 chemical or electro-chemical polishing - Polishing is possible only for some aluminum alloys.
E9 shot blasting - Achieves a matt rough surface. Removes all scratches and traces of machining.
E10 ball-polishing - Achieves a shiny surface. Small scratches and dents on the surface of the pieces are reduced.

1. Trovalization:

Trovalization is the procedure of chamfering by circular vibrations using different chips and grit compounds.

Chips can be made of different materials such as ceramics, plastics or combinations, which affect the abrasiveness of materials. Chamfering is done in a Rösler Type R420EC circular vibrator.

2. Shot blasting:

Shot blasting is a process of surface treatment of materials where shot pellets are used as abrasive material.

Using the shot blasting machine, shot blasting agent (glass granules, aluminum and stainless steel balls) is accelerated by compressed air and thereby the desired effect is performed on the surface of the workpiece.

3. Ball-polishing:

Ball-polishing is a chemical-mechanical polishing process of crafted pieces of aluminium, steel, copper, etc. Stainless steel balls are in the vibratory bowl which moves while rotating steel balls together with the material while in the same time adding the cleaning agents.

The result is a slightly structured and glossy surface that is more durable, more resistant to scratching and corrosion.

4. Laser engraving:

Anodizing process fundamentally changes the property of aluminium: surface hardness, corrosion resistance and so on. With this procedure we can also add colour to the surface, which certainly affects the better outer appearance of the aluminium product.

During the engraving of such aluminium product the anodized layer is taken off. The natural colour of aluminum highlights below it. Using certain colours on the aluminium you can achieve very good contrastive effect.

The laser can process following materials: acrylic, coated metals, steel, anodized aluminum, veneer, glass, wood, ceramic, plastic, leather, MDF, paper, cardboard, polycarbonate, silicone, stone, etc.
